Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Facial Primer

Nourishing face primers for an even, radiant complexion

Jane Iredale's Smooth Affair primers bridge the gap between your skincare and makeup. These are not ordinary primers: each formula evens out skin texture, visibly refines pores, and provides a smooth base for makeup to stay beautiful longer. At the same time, they nourish the skin with skin-friendly ingredients, so you give back to your skin instead of just applying a layer of makeup.

Whether you want to refresh a dull complexion, mattify a shiny T-zone, or achieve a dewy glow: within the Smooth Affair line, there is a primer that suits your skin type and desired finish. All three are fragrance-free and tested for comedogenicity, and contain no SPF, so you can continue using your own sun protection.

Why choose a Smooth Affair primer?

A primer is applied between your cared-for skin and your foundation and gives the makeup something to adhere to. This refines skin texture, reduces the appearance of pores, and ensures your foundation applies more evenly and lasts longer. What sets the Smooth Affair primers apart is that they also provide nourishing skin benefits: from hydration and antioxidant protection to supporting skin elasticity. This way, you work towards a more beautiful makeup look and a healthier-looking skin.

Find your ideal primer

The three variants mainly differ in finish and the skin type they are most suitable for.

The Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Brightening Face Primer targets a dull complexion that could use a brightening boost. With apple extract, royal jelly, and vitamin C derivatives, this primer evens out the skin and brings out its natural radiance. Suitable for almost all skin types looking for more glow.

The Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Mattifying Face Primer is the choice for oily and combination skin prone to shine. Red algae help balance sebum production, while hibiscus bark and rose geranium firm and protect the skin. The result is a long-lasting matte, shine-free finish.

The Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Illuminating Glow Face Primer is intended for dry or tired skin that needs hydration and glow. Hyaluronic acid and shea butter provide intense hydration, while mica gives a subtle pearlescent finish for a dewy, luminous look.

How to use a Smooth Affair primer?

1. Thoroughly cleanse your face as the first step of your routine
2. Optionally apply a serum and let it fully absorb
3. Then apply your moisturizer, as moisturizer always goes on before a primer
4. Massage a pea-sized amount of the chosen Smooth Affair primer with your fingertips over your face and neck until absorbed
5. Then apply your foundation; the primer is the last nourishing product before your makeup
6. Always use a separate sun protection in the morning as the last step, since none of the Smooth Affair primers contain SPF

Frequently asked questions

Which Smooth Affair primer suits my skin type best?
