Jane Iredale Make up

Mineral makeup with skincare benefits for every skin type

Since 1994, Jane Iredale has been the pioneer of The Skincare Makeup: mineral makeup that not only covers and corrects but also cares for and protects the skin. The brand was founded by Jane Iredale, a former casting director and producer who saw how conventional stage makeup weakened actresses' skin. Her question — why can’t makeup be good for the skin? — remains the foundation of every formula to this day.

For the customer, this means makeup free from talc, parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, and GMO ingredients, with most complexion formulas combining broad-spectrum SPF with skin-friendly botanicals. Jane Iredale makeup is therefore the go-to choice for dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and skin therapists worldwide — and the complete range is available to order online at Glam Skin Webshop.

Why choose Jane Iredale?

Jane Iredale stands out through a consistent philosophy that has run through every product line for over thirty years: makeup should look beautiful, feel pleasant, and be good for the skin. The formulas are built around high-quality mineral pigments, supplemented with botanical extracts, peptides, and active skincare ingredients that support the skin rather than burden it. This makes Jane Iredale makeup especially suitable for skin prone to redness, acne, rosacea, or sensitivity — exactly the skin profiles where conventional makeup often falls short. Because almost the entire complexion range contains mineral SPF protection, a daily routine automatically becomes a daily sun protection strategy. Add to that: Leaping Bunny cruelty-free, dermatologically tested, sensitivity-tested, and non-comedogenic as standard.

The story behind the brand

Jane Iredale was founded in 1994 by Jane Iredale herself, after a career as a casting director and producer in the film and theater world. She saw actresses struggling with skin problems worsened by heavy stage makeup, and formulated a solution: Amazing Base Loose Mineral Powder — the first mineral foundation immediately embraced by dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and aestheticians. The product proved that makeup could soothe, conceal, and protect the skin without the typical heavy, cakey finish. Following this breakthrough came the PurePressed Base pressed mineral foundation, the HydroPure hyaluronic acid line, and dozens of other formulas that make up the range today. The company is still based in rural Massachusetts, surrounded by organic gardens and farms that provide the botanical inspiration for the formulas.

The formula philosophy

Jane Iredale’s formulas rest on four core principles that you’ll find in almost every product.

Mineral base with skincare benefits: Every complexion formula is built around finely milled mineral pigments (iron oxides, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide) that naturally protect the skin from UV while providing coverage. This makes the PurePressed Base and Amazing Base pigments that sit on the skin rather than sink in.

Multi-tasking per product: Where possible, Jane Iredale combines multiple functions in one step — foundation with SPF, tinted serum with hyaluronic acid, blush with skin-soothing extracts. This shortens the routine without compromising care.

Botanical and peptide enhancement: Ingredients like pomegranate extract, algae extract, hyaluronic acid, and peptide complexes are incorporated throughout the range to support moisture, skin barrier, and texture during wear.

Free from known irritants: All formulas are free from talc, parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, and GMO ingredients. Jane Iredale is Leaping Bunny cruelty-free, dermatologically tested, sensitivity-tested, and non-comedogenic — a positioning that explicitly places the brand as clean beauty & professional mineral makeup.

The 11 product lines

The Jane Iredale range is structured as a complete system: from primer and foundation to setting spray, from eye products to lips, and from brushes to cleansers. Each line has its own focus but shares the same skin-friendly foundational philosophy. Below is an overview of the main sub-lines and products per line.

Foundation: The core of the range, built around both liquid and powder mineral foundations and the accompanying primers. In liquid form, you’ll find the Skintuition SPF30 Radiance-Boosting Liquid Foundation, the Beyond Matte Liquid Foundation, the HydroPure Tinted Serum, and the Dream Tint tinted moisturizer with SPF15. In powder form, there are the iconic PurePressed Base pressed mineral foundation with SPF20/15, the Amazing Base loose mineral powder foundation with SPF20/15, and the Powder-Me SPF30 Dry Sunscreen — a touch-up SPF powder with a built-in brush. The Smooth Affair Brightening Face Primer completes the line as a preparatory step for an even, brightened base.

Concealer: Targeted correction for dark circles, pigmentation spots, discolorations, and unevenness. The line consists of four classic sublines: the Enlighten Concealer with peach undertone for dark circles, the Enlighten Plus Under-eye Concealer with SPF30/20 and cooling applicator, the Circle Delete Concealer as a color-correcting system in four shades (red, blue, brown, gray), and the PureMatch Liquid Concealer for liquid coverage. Additionally, the newer Skintuition Brightening Under Eye Concealer with peptide complex, the Active Light Under-eye Concealer, and the Corrective Colors palettes for color correction complete the range.

Finishing Powder & Setting Spray: The finishing layer of the routine, divided into two complementary sublines. The powder side consists of the PureMatte Finishing Powder for shine reduction and the Amazing Matte Loose Finish Powder for oily and combination skin. On the spray side, you’ll find the hydration mists: the well-known POMMISST with pomegranate extract, the D2O Hydration Spray specifically for dry skin, the Balance Hydration Spray for oil regulation, and the cooling Lemongrass Love. All sprays function as setting sprays and refreshing boosters throughout the day.

Eye Shadow: Mineral eyeshadow in four different forms to suit every application method. The ColorLuxe Eye Shadow Stick is the cream-to-powder stick for quick application on the eyelid. The PurePressed Eye Shadow Single gives you loose pressed pigments to mix yourself, the PurePressed Eye Shadow Triple bundles three shades in one pre-composed look, and the PurePressed Eye Shadow Kit (Palette) offers a complete palette for home and on the go. The entire line is wheat-free and tested for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

Eye Pencil & Eyeliner: Definition of the eye area in two different textures. The Jane Iredale Eye Pencil is a creamy mineral eye pencil in six shades (from Basic Black and Basic Brown to Taupe and midnight blue), whose color sets after one minute thanks to candelilla and carnauba wax. The Mystikol Powdered Eyeliner is the powder liner in four shades (Onyx black, Dark Topaz metallic brown, Amethyst purple, and Smoky Quartz gray), with a double-ended applicator case for precision and smoky effects. Both formulas are suitable for contact lens wearers.

PureBrow: The complete eyebrow line with four subcategories that you can freely combine into your own brow routine. The PureBrow Precision Pencil is the fine twist-up tip for hair-by-hair technique in six shades. The PureBrow Shaping Pencil combines a broad and fine side in one teardrop shape for 3-in-1 use. The PureBrow Brow Gel fixes and thickens eyebrow hairs with wheat protein and algae extract in seven variants (one of which is transparent). The PureBrow Brow Powder diffuses color softly over the brow area for gentle filling, available in six vegan and wheat-free shades.

Mascara & Lash Conditioner: Eyelash care and makeup, ophthalmologist tested and suitable for contact lens wearers. The PureLash Lash Extender & Conditioner is the nourishing primer and evening conditioner that feeds lashes and enhances the effect of your mascara. Then there are three mascaras, each with its own character: the Lash Fixation Tubing Mascara works with small tubes that rinse off with lukewarm water without rubbing, the Longest Lash Mascara uses cellulose fibers for buildable volume and extra length, and the Beyond Lash Volumizing Mascara offers weightless volume in a formula that is 98% naturally derived, vegan, and gluten-free.

Blush & Bronzer: Warmth, glow, and dimension for the cheeks, in liquid, cream, and powder textures. The blush subline includes the ColorLuxe Liquid Blush for a dewy glow, the PurePressed Blush as a classic pressed mineral blush, and the Glow Time Blush Stick for on-the-go use. The bronzers are divided into the matte PureBronze Matte Bronzer for natural shading and the PureBronze Shimmer Bronzer Refill for highlighting. For highlighter, choose between the Glow Time Highlighter Stick, the 24 Karat Gold Dust, and Solstice — all with mineral pigments that do not emphasize skin imperfections negatively.

Lipstick, Just Kissed & Lip Gloss: Complete lip care, from intense classic lipsticks to balm-like hydration. The ColorLuxe Cream Lipstick delivers a creamy, highly pigmented finish, while the Beyond Matte Lip Stain offers long-lasting, transfer-resistant color. The Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain is the multi-use tint for lips and cheeks. On the gloss side, there are the HydroPure Hyaluronic Lip Gloss with hyaluronic acid for a non-sticky, moisturizing shine and the ColorLuxe High Impact Lip Glaze for full shine with nourishing oils. The LipDrink Lip Balm with SPF15 completes the line as daily lip care with sun protection.

Brushes & Applicators: Professional brushes with synthetic, vegan fibers that optimize pigment delivery of mineral formulas. The complexion brushes include The Handi Brush for loose and pressed mineral foundations, the Powder Complexion Brush for a light airbrushed finish, the Liquid Complexion Brush for liquid formulas, the Multiuse Blending Brush (officially recommended for Glow Time sticks), the Concealer Brush, and the Camouflage Brush for spot coverage. The eye brushes include the Fluffy Eye Brush, Flat Eye Brush, Crease Brush, Smudge Eye Brush, and Detail Brush for every step of the eyeshadow routine. For cheeks, there are the Cheek Brush and the Fan Brush for delicate finishing.

Makeup Removers & Accessories: Cleansers and practical accessories that end the day and support the routine. The iconic Magic Mitt Makeup Remover removes makeup completely with only lukewarm water — no chemical ingredients needed. Also here you will find the latex-free Flocked Sponge, the Perfect & Set Dual-Sided Puff for applying powder formulas, brush cleaners for cleaning your brushes, refillable compacts for sustainable refilling, and the Citrus + Charcoal Hand Wash with vitamin E and glycerin for frequent cleansing without drying out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Jane Iredale makeup suitable for?

Suitable for almost all skin types, but especially for people with sensitive, irritated, acne-prone, or rosacea-prone skin. The formulas are non-comedogenic, free from talc, parabens, phthalates, and synthetic fragrances, and are internationally recommended by dermatologists and plastic surgeons — precisely because the mineral base does not further burden the skin during recovery.

What makes Jane Iredale mineral makeup different from regular makeup?

Where conventional makeup is often just a cosmetic top layer, Jane Iredale formulas are built around skincare principles. They combine mineral pigments with botanical extracts, peptides, and hyaluronic acid, and many complexion products also contain broad-spectrum mineral SPF. The skin is thus simultaneously cared for, protected, and colored while wearing the makeup.

Does Jane Iredale contain sun protection?

Yes, a large part of the complexion line contains mineral SPF through titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. For example, the PurePressed Base offers SPF20/15, the Skintuition Liquid Foundation SPF30, and the Powder-Me Dry Sunscreen even SPF30. For full daily protection, it is still advised to wear this SPF makeup over a separate sunscreen, especially in intense sun or prolonged exposure.

Is Jane Iredale cruelty-free and clean beauty?

Yes. Jane Iredale is Leaping Bunny cruelty-free certified, dermatologically tested, and sensitivity-tested. All formulas are free from talc, parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, and GMO ingredients. The brand was at the forefront of the clean beauty movement, long before the term existed.

How long do mineral makeup products last?

Unopened Jane Iredale products generally last several years. After opening, the PAO (Period After Opening) is usually 12 to 24 months for powders and 6 to 12 months for liquid formulas — the exact symbol is always on the packaging. Store products in a cool, dry place and use clean brushes to extend their shelf life.

Can I combine multiple Jane Iredale lines in one routine?

Certainly. The range is deliberately designed as a system: primer, foundation, concealer, blush, eye products, lips, and setting spray seamlessly complement each other in texture and pigment. For a complete daily look, for example, the Smooth Affair primer, PurePressed Base foundation, a PurePressed Blush, and the POMMISST setting mist work perfectly together.
