Talc-free loose setting powder in 4 shades for a soft matte finish

A setting powder largely determines how long your makeup keeps looking good. A loose powder sets your makeup in a fine, airy layer and is handy for refreshing your skin during the day when shine appears. Because you pick it up from the jar with a brush, it is easy to control how much powder you use.

The Youngblood Loose Mineral Rice Setting Powder is available at Glam Skin in 4 shades: Light, Medium, Tan and Pink. The ultra-lightweight formula based on rice and corn starch is talc-free, absorbs oil, gives light coverage and a natural, soft matte finish. According to Youngblood, the powder is suitable for all skin types and designed for skin that stays balanced all day.

Why choose the Youngblood Loose Mineral Rice Setting Powder?

The powder keeps shine under control and helps soften the skin's texture. The ultra-lightweight formula finishes your makeup without feeling heavy, and you use it both to set foundation and to touch up during the day.

  • Talc-free formula with a natural, soft matte finish
  • Rice starch creates a silky soft-focus effect and helps blur the look of pores and texture
  • Corn starch absorbs excess skin oil
  • Ethically sourced mica for a silky texture
  • Plant extracts such as parsley, cucumber and marshmallow root extract
  • 10 g jar with light coverage

Find your ideal shade

The four shades differ mainly in the colour of the powder: three neutral-coloured powders from light to deep and a soft pink shade.

Neutral shades:

  • Light — creamy white powder with a soft, light look; the lightest shade
  • Medium — warm beige powder, the in-between shade between Light and Tan
  • Tan — golden beige powder, the deepest shade

Pink shade:

  • Pink — soft pink powder

Can't decide between two shades? Hold your foundation next to the photos: the powder should be close in colour to your foundation, so your makeup looks the same after setting. Feel free to send us a WhatsApp message with a photo in daylight and we'll help you decide.

How do you use a loose setting powder?

The powder is the last step, over your foundation and concealer. This is how you apply it:

  1. Let your foundation and concealer set for a moment first
  2. Pick up a little powder with the YB2 Powder Luxe Brush or the YB1 Kabuki Luxe Brush and tap away any excess; with loose powder this is extra important
  3. Gently press and sweep the powder over the areas that get shiny quickly, especially the T-zone
  4. Use soft, circular motions to soften the texture and set your makeup
  5. Touch up in between wherever the skin starts to shine again

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose between Light, Medium and Tan?

Choose the shade that best matches your skin and foundation: Light is creamy white, Medium warm beige and Tan golden beige. A powder that is too light can leave a white cast on deeper skin, while a powder that is too dark makes your makeup look heavier. Can't work it out? Does Loose Pink have a colour-correcting effect?

Youngblood describes the colour-correcting effect of the pink undertone (neutralising a sallow complexion and brightening the eye area) only for the Pressed Mineral Rice Setting Powder in Pink. Youngblood does not give that explanation for the loose Pink. If you are looking specifically for that effect, choose the pressed Pink; if you are looking for a soft pink loose powder, the loose Pink is the right choice.

Which skin type is this setting powder meant for?

According to Youngblood, the powder is suitable for all skin types. It gives light coverage and a natural, matte finish. Because it absorbs oil, you notice the effect most on areas that get shiny quickly. If your skin is on the drier side, use only a little powder and focus on the T-zone.

Which brush do I use for a loose powder?

Youngblood recommends the YB2 Powder Luxe Brush or the YB1 Kabuki Luxe Brush. Pick up only a little powder and tap away the excess before pressing it onto the skin. This way you build up the layer gradually and your makeup keeps looking natural.

Loose or pressed: what is the difference?

The loose version is a loose powder in a 10 g jar, with parsley, cucumber and marshmallow root extract, and according to Youngblood suitable for all skin types. The Pressed Mineral Rice Setting Powder is a pressed powder in an 8 g compact, with jojoba oil, green tea and honeysuckle extract, and meant for normal, combination and oily skin. If you mainly touch up on the go, the compact is more practical.
