Dermalogica Blackhead Clearing Fizz Masque 50ml

Description
Fizzing mask with sulfur against blackheads and clogged pores
Blackheads on the nose and chin are some of the most stubborn skin problems that exist. Unlike pimples, they do not disappear on their own — they remain, become visibly darker as the sebum oxidizes, and give the nose a spotted appearance that frustrates many young people. Classic approaches like scrubs and pore strips often damage the skin barrier without delivering real results.
The Blackhead Clearing Fizz Masque works fundamentally differently than a regular clay or scrub treatment. Upon contact with the skin, the oxygen technology activates and the formula begins to visibly fizz — a tingling reaction that unclogs pores from within, while 3% sulfur restores the bacterial balance and kaolin clay absorbs excess sebum. A targeted two- or three-times-per-week treatment that makes a visible difference where it really counts: the T-zone.
Advantages
- Visibly cleans clogged pores and helps lift blackheads
- Absorbs excess sebum in the T-zone without drying out the skin
- Activates with a fizzing, tingling effect that you can feel and see
- Refines visible pore size with regular use
- Suitable for both teenage acne and adult oily skin with blackheads
Active ingredients
Sulfur (3.0%): A classic dermatological ingredient used for over a century to treat oily skin and blackheads. The relatively high concentration in this mask works antibacterial and helps regulate sebum production — two fundamental factors in the formation of blackheads. The typical sulfur smell is proof that the ingredient is working as it should.
Kaolin Clay & Quartz: Kaolin is a fine white clay that absorbs excess sebum and impurities from the pores. Quartz powder adds a light mineral absorption that results in smoother, more textured skin after rinsing. Together, they form the detoxifying foundation beneath the fizzing action.
Turmeric, Ginger & Tea Tree: Three powerful plant-based antibacterial ingredients. Turmeric is traditionally known for its anti-inflammatory properties, ginger stimulates skin circulation, and tea tree targets the bacteria that can turn blackheads into pimples. Together, they prevent blackheads from developing into active inflammation.
Eucalyptus, Mint & Thyme: The aromatic blend that provides the characteristic cooling and tingling sensation during the mask. Besides the sensory experience, these three essential oils work together as natural purifiers that help open the pores — enhancing the effect of the sulfur and clay.
Rosemary, Lavender & Sage: Three soothing botanicals that prevent the skin from feeling red or irritated after the mask. Especially lavender helps restore the skin barrier and ensures the mask does not dry out the skin with regular use.
How to use
- First cleanse your face thoroughly with a suitable cleanser, for example, the Breakout Clearing Foaming Wash
- Squeeze a thin layer of the mask directly from the tube onto areas with blackheads — usually the nose, chin, and forehead
- Spread with fingertips or leave without spreading; massaging actually hinders the fizzing effect
- Leave on for 3 to 5 minutes until the fizzing calms down — expect a tingling sensation, which is normal and proof that the formula is active
- Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and follow with your usual serum and moisturizer
Suitable for
- Teens from 15 years and adults with stubborn blackheads
- Oily and combination skin with shiny T-zone
- Clogged pores on nose, chin, and forehead
- Not suitable for sulfa allergy or known sulfur sensitivity
- Not recommended for very dry or damaged skin barrier
Frequently Asked Questions
From what age is this mask suitable for my child?
Dermalogica recommends this specific mask from age 15. The 3% sulfur dosage is strong and better suited for skin that is already somewhat developed. For younger teens with blackheads, the Breakout Clearing Foaming Wash is a more suitable first step.
My mask fizzes little or not at all — is it defective?
That is a common misconception. The fizzing only occurs when the product reacts with the oxygen on your skin and your natural sebum. Apply the mask and leave it alone — do not spread or massage it — and give it about half a minute. After a while, you will actually see and feel the work begin.
How often per week can I use this mask?
Two to three times a week is optimal. More often is not better — the skin needs time to recover between treatments, and the mask is powerful enough to show visible results after a few weeks of regular use without overloading.
Can I combine this mask with the Daily Microfoliant?
Yes, but preferably not on the same day. Give your skin time to calm down between two active treatments. A good approach is, for example, the Daily Microfoliant on day one and the Fizz Masque on day three. Never combine both if your skin feels irritated or red.
