Dermalogica Deep Breakout Liquid Patch 15ml

Description
Invisible spot treatment with sulfur for deep pimples
Everyone knows that feeling: a sensitive spot under the skin that isn’t yet visible but is clearly becoming a large, painful pimple. For those deep, underground blemishes — often hormonal and notoriously stubborn — regular spot treatments fall short. Classic patches only cover what is already on the surface, and drying gels cause extra redness on areas where the skin actually needs to calm down.
The Deep Breakout Liquid Patch works fundamentally differently. The product applies as a liquid on the skin and transforms within a minute into a flexible, invisible film that functions like a second skin. Under this film, 5% colloidal sulfur and 4% niacinamide target the inflammation — without anyone seeing that you have anything on.
Benefits
- Stops deep pimples before they visibly break out when applied early
- Forms an invisible, breathable film that is also wearable under makeup during the day
- Protects the inflamed spot from fingers, air pollution, and irritants
- Reduces redness and speeds up healing within one to a few days
- Safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Active ingredients
Colloidal Sulfur (5%): A classic dermatological ingredient used for decades in treating deep, inflamed acne. It inhibits bacterial growth in the pore and helps remove excess sebum that fuels the inflammation. In colloidal form, it spreads evenly over the skin and penetrates effectively without the typical drying effect of traditional sulfur pastes.
Niacinamide (4%): A high-dose form of vitamin B3 that visibly calms redness and swelling. It also helps inhibit melanin production, causing the brownish spots that deep pimples often leave weeks later (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) to fade faster.
Lactic Acid (AHA): A mild alpha hydroxy acid that softens the hardened layer around a deep pimple, helping to complete the inflammation process faster. It also stimulates cell renewal, speeding up the healing of the spot.
Camphor & Aloe Vera: Camphor provides an immediate cooling sensation on the inflamed spot and helps reduce painful tension. Aloe Vera works deeply to soothe and restore the skin around the pimple, preventing damage to the healthy skin.
Pomegranate & Beta-glucan: Pomegranate extract is rich in antioxidants and protects irritated skin from further oxidative damage. Beta-glucan forms a moisture-retaining network at the molecular level that supports the skin barrier — important because dry skin tends to produce more sebum.
How to use it
- Cleanse and tone the face as usual in your routine.
- Squeeze a rice grain-sized amount onto the back of your hand.
- Use your fingertip to dab a small amount onto the inflamed spot and gently rub until completely invisible.
- Give the film about a minute to fully dry into a smooth second skin.
- Then simply continue with the rest of your routine — serum, day cream, and makeup can be applied over it.
Suitable for
- Deep, underground pimples that are not yet visible but can already be felt.
- Hormonal acne around the jawline and chin.
- Adult skin with occasional inflammations.
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women who need to avoid acne medication or retinol.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this product really invisible or can you still see it?
It is truly invisible. Unlike classic hydrocolloid patches that stand out as a white spot, this formula dries completely transparent. You can comfortably wear it during the day, even under concealer or foundation.
At what point in my skincare routine should I apply this?
Apply after cleansing and toning, before your serum and moisturizer. Allow the patch a minute to fully dry, then build the rest of your routine on top. This way, the film stays intact and the action can continue beneath the skin.
Can I combine this product with the Retinol Clearing Oil or AGE Bright Clearing Serum?
We advise against layering multiple active acne products on the same spot. It’s better to alternate: use the Liquid Patch when a new pimple appears, and apply your regular serum or retinol for your general routine. Consult a skin therapist if in doubt.
Is this spot treatment safe to use during pregnancy?
Yes, that is one of the reasons why this product is special within the Active Clearing line. The formula contains no salicylic acid or retinoids, making it a safe option during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Always discuss use with your doctor or midwife in specific medical situations.
