Description
Night serum with AHA, BHA, and azelaic acid against acne
Acne-prone skin rarely benefits from a single ingredient. Acne arises from a combination of factors: excessive sebum production, clogged pores, bacterial growth, and inflammation. Addressing only one of these means the cycle will continue. A serum that influences multiple mechanisms simultaneously therefore delivers noticeably better results.
The DermaQuest Advanced DermaClear Serum combines sixteen active ingredients in one lightweight lotion, centered around a combination of 7.5% glycolic acid, 2% salicylic acid, and 3% azelaic acid. Clinical studies showed that 91% of users had visibly clearer skin with less redness and inflammation after four weeks, and 94% had an improved skin appearance with faded dark spots.
Benefits
- Combines AHA, BHA, and azelaic acid for a multi-targeted approach to acne
- Reduces visible pimples, blackheads, and post-inflammatory pigmentation
- Regulates sebum production and visibly refines enlarged pores
- Contains prebiotics for a balanced skin microbiome
- Microsponge technology releases the active substances slowly throughout the night
Active ingredients
Glycolic acid (7.5%): An alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) with a small molecular weight that penetrates deeply into the upper skin layers. It stimulates cell renewal, fades post-inflammatory pigmentation after pimples, and refines skin texture. At this concentration, glycolic acid is suitable for daily use within a thoughtful routine.
Salicylic acid (2%): A beta hydroxy acid (BHA) that is fat-soluble and therefore penetrates deep into the pore itself. It loosens hardened sebum, neutralizes acne-causing bacteria, and reduces inflammation. The combination with glycolic acid targets both surface impurities and the cause of blackheads.
Azelaic acid (3%): An ingredient rarely found at this concentration in a night serum. Azelaic acid works antibacterial against P. acnes bacteria, reduces inflammation, fades pigmentation spots, and is suitable for rosacea-prone skin. A valuable addition to AHA and BHA.
Niacinamide (vitamin B3): Reduces visible redness, regulates sebum production, and strengthens the skin barrier. Additionally, niacinamide inhibits melanin transfer, which helps prevent and fade post-inflammatory pigmentation after acne.
Cultibiota (prebiotics): A stable prebiotic that nourishes and balances the skin microbiome. This supports the skin’s natural defense, reduces redness, and helps maintain a stable pH — especially relevant for acne-prone skin that often experiences imbalance.
Microsponges & OiLess'city™: Microscopic sponge structures load with the active ingredients and release them gradually overnight, deeper into the pore. OiLess'city (Backhousia Citriodora) regulates sebum production and quality, giving the serum a mattifying effect during the following day.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use this serum daily or only periodically?
It is developed for daily evening use. For sensitive skin, start every other evening and build up slowly. Thanks to the microsponge system, the serum releases the acids gradually, minimizing irritation.
What is the difference with the BHA Cleanser or the Universal Clarifying Pads?
The cleanser is rinsed off, the pads are a weekly step. This serum is left on overnight and contains, besides salicylic acid, also glycolic acid, azelaic acid, and niacinamide — a deeper, broader approach. For severe acne, the three products are complementary; do not use them on the same evening.
Can I combine this with retinol?
Not on the same evening. Both products actively promote cell renewal, and stacking them increases the risk of irritation. Alternate active evenings, for example retinol on Monday/Thursday, the Advanced DermaClear Serum on Tuesday/Friday/Sunday.
Can I use this during pregnancy?
This serum contains retinyl linoleate, salicylic acid, and azelaic acid in active concentrations. During pregnancy, this combination is usually not recommended. Always consult your skin therapist or doctor before using this product if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
