Cleanser with mandelic acid for impure and acne-prone skin
Impure skin requires a cleanser that works effectively without disrupting the skin barrier. Overly aggressive formulas dry out the skin and actually trigger more sebum production and irritation, resulting in a vicious cycle of pimples, redness, and sensitivity. The DermaQuest DermaClear Cleanser breaks this pattern with a thoughtful formula that gently cleanses and actively targets acne-causing bacteria.
Mandelic acid, papaya and pineapple enzymes, and tea tree oil work together to remove excess sebum, dead skin cells, and impurities from the skin. After cleansing, the skin feels clean and calm—without the tight, dry feeling that many classic acne cleansers leave behind.
Benefits
- Cleanses deeply and gently, ideal for all stages of acne and breakouts
- Mandelic acid gently exfoliates and regulates sebum production
- Natural enzymes dissolve clogged pores and surface buildup
- Tea tree oil and willow bark soothe visible irritation and redness
- Suitable for daily use, morning and evening
Active ingredients
Mandelic acid (1%): An alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) with a larger molecule than glycolic acid, which means it penetrates less deeply and is therefore suitable for sensitive, acne-prone skin. Mandelic acid gently exfoliates, regulates sebum production, and refines skin texture without drying out the barrier.
Papaya and pineapple enzymes: These proteolytic enzymes naturally break down dead skin cells. They provide visibly smoother, fresher skin and support the action of mandelic acid by preparing the skin for further care.
Tea tree oil (Melaleuca Alternifolia): A natural antibacterial ingredient that neutralizes acne-causing bacteria and reduces visible inflammation and redness. Its astringent effect helps prevent new pimples and balances sebum production.
Willow bark extract: Naturally contains salicylates that cleanse pores from within and soothe irritation. It works synergistically with tea tree oil for a balanced, calm skin.
Aloe vera & glycerin: Prevent the cleanser from drying out and keep the skin's hydration level intact during cleansing — essential for acne-prone skin that is often over-cleansed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this cleanser if I have sensitive skin?
Yes. Mandelic acid has a larger molecule than other AHAs and is therefore well tolerated by sensitive skin. The addition of aloe vera and willow bark also helps soothe irritation during cleansing.
Can I use DermaClear Cleanser daily, morning and evening?
Yes, the formula is designed for twice-daily use. If you have sensitive skin, you can start with once a day and gradually increase as your skin gets used to it.
Does this cleanser also work for hormonal acne?
Definitely. The combination of mandelic acid, tea tree oil, and willow bark addresses both the cause (acne-causing bacteria and sebum buildup) and the visible effects (pimples, redness), whether the acne is hormonally or externally triggered.
Can I use a toner or exfoliant after this cleanser?
Yes, but be careful when layering acids. Preferably follow DermaClear Cleanser with a hydrating serum and moisturizer. An additional exfoliant is usually not necessary thanks to the mandelic acid in this cleanser.
