Description
High-dose retinol serum for the experienced user
Skin that has been using retinol for months or years develops tolerance over time. What initially gave visible results eventually feels like maintenance. This is not a sign that retinol no longer works, but that the skin is ready for a higher concentration to make progress again in terms of wrinkles, stubborn pigmentation spots, and rougher texture.
The DermaQuest RiQ Retinol 0.6% is precisely designed for this phase. With double the concentration compared to the 0.3% and the same smart microencapsulation, this serum delivers deeper correction without the skin needing a long downtime. The four retinoid forms work together on repair at multiple levels, while tyrosinase inhibitors specifically target pigment formation.
Benefits
- Targets deeper wrinkles and old scars through increased retinoid concentration
- Refines rougher skin texture and helps smooth visible irregularities
- Corrects sun damage and fades stubborn pigmentation spots
- Stimulates collagen production for visibly firmer and younger-looking skin tissue
- Works actively at night with the skin's natural repair rhythm
- Developed for users who already have retinol experience
Active ingredients
Retinol, Retinal, Retinyl Retinoate & Retinyl Linoleate (0.6% total): Four different forms of vitamin A in one formula. Retinol stabilizes cell division and accelerates cell renewal, retinal is one conversion step closer to the active form and works faster, retinyl retinoate is a newer generation ester with slower conversion for less irritation, and retinyl linoleate combines retinoid action with skin-softening properties. Together they provide a broad and deep effect.
Tyrosinase Inhibitors (Tranexamic Acid, Olive Leaf Extract & Niacinamide): These three work together on the pigment formation process. Tranexamic acid blocks melanin transfer to skin cells, olive leaf extract has antioxidant and anti-pigment properties, and niacinamide reduces the visibility of existing discolorations. This combination is valuable for those dealing with stubborn hyperpigmentation alongside aging.
Peptide Complex with Sodium Palmitoyl Proline: Peptides are short chains of amino acids that stimulate the skin to produce collagen. They work at the molecular level to restore skin structure and compensate for the loss of firmness associated with mature skin.
Plant Stem Cells (Buddleja Davidii, Cyperus Papyrus & Chlorella Vulgaris): Three different plant stem cell extracts that complement each other's effects. They protect against environmental stress, support skin tissue regeneration, and strengthen the skin barrier during intensive retinoid treatment.
Squalane & Hylasome (Hyaluronic Acid Crosspolymer): Squalane nourishes the skin and locks in moisture without a greasy layer. The crosslinked hyaluronic acid variant attracts moisture and retains it longer than regular hyaluronic acid, providing extra support during treatment with a high-dose retinoid.
Bakuchiol & Allosteris: Bakuchiol naturally enhances the retinoid effect while calming the skin. Allosteris is a patented enhancer that optimizes the performance of vitamin A without extra stress on the skin barrier.
How to use it
- Use this serum only in the evening, as retinoids make the skin more sensitive to UV radiation
- Cleanse the face and optionally apply a toner
- Apply a thin layer and spread the serum evenly over the face, neck, and décolleté
- Avoid the eye area and the immediate surroundings of the mouth
- Finish with a DermaQuest moisturizer of your choice to support the skin barrier
- Always use sun protection with SPF 30 or higher as the last step in the morning
Start with two evenings per week and increase weekly by one extra evening until daily use. According to DermaQuest, retinol use is recommended in spring and autumn, with a three-month break in between. Do not switch directly from a lighter serum to this concentration without a preparation period.
Suitable for

- Not suitable for retinol beginners or sensitive skin without prior experience
- Not suitable during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or with active skin irritation
Frequently asked questions
Can I switch directly from RiQ Retinol 0.3% to this 0.6%?
Only if the skin tolerates the 0.3% well and you have used it for at least three months without irritation. Transition gradually by first using the 0.6% two evenings per week and maintaining the 0.3% on the other evenings. Build this up over a few weeks to a full transition.
Why is this serum specifically for advanced users?
A high retinoid concentration works more deeply but also stresses the skin barrier more. Skin not yet accustomed to retinoids almost always reacts to this strength with irritation, flaking, and redness. By building up through lower concentrations, you develop tolerance and ultimately achieve more results with less damage to the skin barrier.
Can I use this serum year-round?
DermaQuest advises limiting retinol use to spring and autumn, with a three-month break in between. In summer and winter, the skin is exposed to extreme conditions (UV and cold) that, combined with a high-dose retinoid, can cause extra sensitivity.
