A toner is more than an intermediate step — it is the moment when you prepare the skin for all subsequent steps. For blemished skin, this is the ideal moment to exfoliate gently, regulate sebum production, and fade pigmentation spots after pimples. However, many classic toners for oily skin contain a lot of alcohol, which dries out the skin and actually causes more sebum production.
The Clearing Face Tonic from Dr Schrammek’s Regulating line is based on the principle of "smart toning" — powerful enough to cleanse and mattify the skin intensively, gentle enough to keep the skin barrier intact. Niacinamide works anti-inflammatory and fades post-inflammatory pigmentation spots, succinic acid and natural AHAs exfoliate gently, and zinc PCA regulates sebum production. The result is a more matte, clearer skin with better absorption of follow-up products.

Active ingredients
Niacinamide (Vitamin B3): A versatile ingredient that works anti-inflammatory, refines pores, and — crucial for blemished skin — fades post-inflammatory pigmentation spots. Niacinamide helps prevent pimples from leaving dark spots on the skin.
Succinic Acid (Roquette® Beauté SA 130): A patented active ingredient with a triple action: it is antibacterial against acne bacteria, keratolytic for exfoliation, and regulates sebum production. A scientifically supported alternative to classic salicylates.
ACB Fruit Mix: A natural complex of AHA acids from blueberries, sugarcane, orange, lemon, and sugar maple. These plant-based acids exfoliate gently without the typical side effects of synthetic AHAs such as tingling, burning, or redness.
Zinc PCA & Allantoin: Zinc PCA combines antibacterial action with sebum regulation and moisture retention — thanks to PCA, a natural component of the NMF (Natural Moisturizing Factor), the skin stays hydrated. Allantoin soothes and refines the skin texture after exfoliation.
How to use
- Cleanse the face thoroughly morning and evening first
- Apply a small amount of toner to a cotton pad
- Gently move over face, neck, and optionally décolleté, avoiding the eye contour
- Let the toner absorb before applying follow-up steps
- Follow with serum, ampoule, or day cream — always use sun protection as the last step in the morning

Frequently asked questions
Can I combine this toner with other AHA or BHA products?
The toner already contains mild AHAs and succinic acid. We advise against combining it with another acid product in the same step to prevent irritation. Preferably alternate between morning and evening, or leave a day between stronger treatments.
Can I also use this toner locally on a flaring pimple?
Yes, it’s a handy tip to apply the toner locally several times a day on an inflamed pimple using a cotton swab. The anti-inflammatory effect of niacinamide and succinic acid can speed up healing.
Why does this toner also work against pigmentation spots?
The combination of niacinamide and mild AHAs has a proven fading effect on post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation — the dark spots left behind after pimples. With consistent use, these spots visibly fade over a period of several weeks.
