Dr Schrammek Blemish Balm

The original BB cream since 1967 in all shades and variants

In 1967, Christine Schrammek developed an innovative product that combined coverage, care, and skin repair — the Blemish Balm. What started as a specialized treatment for patients after medical skin procedures grew into the inspiration for what is now known worldwide as the BB cream. There are now hundreds of BB creams on the market, but only one original: the Blemish Balm by Dr Schrammek. On this page, you will find the complete range — all shades, all sizes, and the modern extension in the form of the BB Perfect Beauty Fluid with SPF20.

What all Blemish Balm products have in common is the unique combination of immediate camouflage with active skin care. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide provide mineral UV protection and have anti-inflammatory effects, panthenol and bisabolol soothe irritated skin, and licorice root fades pigmentation spots after pimples. This makes a Blemish Balm not an ordinary foundation, but a product that actually improves your skin while wearing it. Whether you are looking for a specific skin tone, a targeted spot treatment for pigmentation spots, or a 3-in-1 fluid with SPF20 for dry skin — in this collection, you will find the right match.

Two product lines, one iconic effect

The original Blemish Balm — for blemished skin The classic Blemish Balm from the Regulating line is developed for skin with blemishes, redness, and enlarged pores. The richer, matte-finishing formula offers strong coverage and has a sebum-regulating effect. Available in five shades: Honey, Classic, Light, Dark Brown, and Snow.

BB Perfect Beauty Fluid SPF20 — for normal to dry skin The modern extension from the Essential line is developed for normal to dry skin that seeks hydration and glow. The lighter fluid texture offers natural coverage with a soft-focus effect via RonaFlair® Flawless and contains a full SPF20 for daily UV protection. Available in three shades: Ivory, Beige, and Peach.

Find your perfect shade

Do you have light skin? For light skin with cool or pink undertones — sensitive to redness or couperose — the Blemish Balm Light 40ml offers targeted camouflage with strong coverage, while the lighter BB Perfect Beauty Fluid SPF20 Ivory 40ml gives a fresh porcelain-like appearance with SPF20.

Do you have normal to slightly darker skin with warm undertones? The warm Blemish Balm Honey 40ml is the classic — also available as a handy travel size in the Honey 15ml travel size for on the go.

Unsure about your undertone? The universal Blemish Balm Classic 40ml suits almost every skin tone and is therefore the safest choice. Also available as a compact Classic 15ml travel size to try easily or as an introductory gift.

Do you have medium skin with warm undertones? The BB Perfect Beauty Fluid SPF20 Beige 40ml matches the natural glow of olive or golden-toned skin and offers 3-in-1 care with SPF20.

Want a healthy glow on tired skin? The BB Perfect Beauty Fluid SPF20 Peach 40ml visually corrects a dull or pale appearance with a fresh peach tint — ideal for winter or after short nights.

Do you have dark skin? The Blemish Balm Dark Brown 40ml is deliberately developed as a rich brown shade with warm undertones, without an ashy effect. For targeted spot treatment of pigmentation spots, the Dark Brown 15ml travel size is an efficient choice.

Want care without coverage? The Blemish Balm Snow 40ml is completely transparent — perfect for men, for night use, for very light skin for which even Light is too dark, or as universal aftercare after skin treatments.

Which do you choose: Blemish Balm or BB Perfect Beauty Fluid?

The choice between the two product lines depends on what your skin needs. If you have oily or combination skin with blemishes, the classic Blemish Balm is the right choice — the mattifying formula and sebum-regulating ingredients address your specific skin issues. If you have normal to dry skin that seeks hydration and a natural glow, the BB Perfect Beauty Fluid offers the right texture and also a full SPF20.

Both lines share the iconic nourishing ingredients — zinc oxide, panthenol, bisabolol, and licorice root — but differ in their finish and which skin type they best serve. If in doubt, we recommend starting with a travel size of the Blemish Balm to experience the effect before investing in a larger size.

Tips for the best results

Start with a cleansed skin and optionally apply a serum or day cream before applying the balm or fluid. Warm a small amount of product between your fingertips and distribute with gentle, dabbing motions over the face and neck — do not rub like with a regular foundation. For a matte finish, you can finish with a transparent powder. The Blemish Balm is excellent for mixing — combine Honey with Classic for a lighter variant, or Dark Brown with Honey for a mid-tone. Mixing with your regular day cream or sunscreen for lighter coverage also works well.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a Blemish Balm and a regular foundation?
A Blemish Balm combines coverage with active skin care. While a regular foundation only camouflages, the Blemish Balm actively soothes the skin thanks to ingredients like zinc oxide, panthenol, and bisabolol and helps reduce inflammation, fade pigmentation spots, and strengthen the skin barrier. Moreover, the Blemish Balm contains mineral UV filters for light sun protection.

Are these products suitable after a Green Peel® or laser treatment?
Yes, this is actually one of the recommended uses. The combination of panthenol, bisabolol, and licorice root supports skin renewal and soothes sensitive, treated skin. The Blemish Balm also covers any temporary redness typical after such treatments.

Can I use a Blemish Balm on sensitive skin?
Yes, especially for sensitive skin, the Blemish Balm is often a good choice. The mineral composition with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide is gentler on the skin than chemical sunscreens, and ingredients like bisabolol and panthenol actively soothe. For very sensitive skin with redness, the Light shade is specifically developed.

How much SPF does the original Blemish Balm offer versus the BB Perfect Beauty Fluid?
The original Blemish Balm provides light natural UV protection through zinc oxide and titanium dioxide but does not claim an SPF value — for prolonged sun exposure, we recommend a separate sunscreen. The BB Perfect Beauty Fluid has a full SPF20 with UVA/UVB protection, sufficient for daily use in a temperate climate.

How long does a 40ml tube last?
With daily use over the entire face, about three to four months. With targeted use on specific spots — for example, spot treatment — a tube can last six months or longer.

Can I mix two shades for a more personalized color?
Absolutely. The Blemish Balm and BB Perfect Beauty Fluid are excellent for mixing — both with each other and with your regular day cream. Many users adjust their mixing ratio per season: lighter in winter, warmer in summer.
