Jane Iredale PureBrow Gel

Fixing eyebrow gel with volume effect in seven shades

An eyebrow pencil applies color to the skin between the hairs. An eyebrow gel does something fundamentally different: it coats each hair with a thin layer of pigment and fixing ingredients, keeping the shape intact all day and making the hairs appear visually thicker. For those who want to not only color their eyebrows but also groom them and make them look more voluminous, a gel is the recommended product—whether or not combined with a pencil.

Jane Iredale’s PureBrow Brow Gel is available in six pigmented variants and one transparent Clear version. All variants combine flexible fixation with a thickening effect through sea extracts, wheat protein, and meadowfoam oil. On this page, you will find all seven variants arranged from transparent and light to dark, with advice per hair color on which shade suits you best.

Why choose PureBrow Brow Gel?

This gel stands out in two ways from regular eyebrow gels. First, the thickening effect: Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein and algae extract coat the hairs with a fine layer that makes them visibly fuller—especially relevant for thin or sparse eyebrows. Second, the long-term nourishing effect: meadowfoam oil hydrates the hairs and prevents breakage, so daily use does not deplete but rather contributes to healthier eyebrows. Important to know: the six colored variants contain beeswax and wheat protein and are therefore not vegan and not wheat-free. Only the Clear variant is both, formulated with spirulina and jojoba as plant-based alternatives.

Find your ideal shade

The seven variants are grouped by function and hair color. Choose Clear if you only want fixation or are sensitive to wheat/animal ingredients. For pigmented variants: choose no more than half a shade darker than your own hair color.

No color

The Clear is the transparent variant that works with every hair color. Ideal if you already have sufficient natural eyebrow pigmentation, if you only want fixation on top of a pencil, or if you need a vegan and wheat-free solution. According to Jane Iredale, it also works as a transparent mascara on dark lashes.

Blonde shades

For blonde hair, there are two colored options. The Ash Blonde has a cool, taupe-gray undertone and works on light blonde to strawberry blonde hair without a warm glow. The Neutral Blonde is the balanced mid-tone without undertone, ideal for light to medium blonde and graying hair that sits between cool and warm.

Red and strawberry blonde

The Auburn is the only gel shade with a pronounced warm red undertone and the recommended choice for natural red hair, dyed auburn, copper blonde, and warm strawberry blonde. With a gel, a matching undertone is extra important because the color spreads over the entire length of each hair.

Brown shades

The Medium Brown is the most worn shade for medium to dark brown hair with a warm neutral undertone. The Dark Brown is more deeply pigmented for medium to deep brown hair that requires a more intense match without the sharpness of black.

Black hair

The Soft Black is a soft black with brown warmth, developed for dark brown to black hair. This softened variant prevents the harsh look that pure black pigmentation in gel form often produces.

How to use PureBrow Brow Gel?

1. Twist out the wand and tap off excess product on the edge of the tube for controlled dosing
2. Brush the eyebrow hairs upward in the desired direction with the micro-spoolie
3. Work from the inside out, following the natural growth direction of each hair
4. Fill in sparse areas by tapping extra product onto that zone with the tip of the spoolie
5. Let dry briefly without touching for the first 30 seconds for optimal flexible fixation

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between this gel and an eyebrow pencil?

A pencil places color definition on the skin between the hairs and simulates individual hairs. A gel coats the existing hairs themselves with a thin pigment and fixing layer. In practice, both products work together: first pencil for hairline simulation, then gel for shape fixation and volume illusion. Those who combine both get the longest-lasting solution.

Why are the colored variants not vegan and not wheat-free?

For the volume effect, Jane Iredale uses Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, which contains wheat. For structure, the colored formulas use beeswax. Only with the Clear variant could Jane Iredale choose spirulina and jojoba as plant-based alternatives, making that shade the only one both vegan and wheat-free.

Is this gel water-resistant?

Yes, all variants of PureBrow Brow Gel are formulated to be water-resistant. The gel withstands perspiration, warm days, and daily wear without fading in intensity or leaving a dull residue.

Can I combine this gel with other PureBrow products?

Yes, the PureBrow line is designed as a system. The Precision Pencil gives hair-by-hair definition, the Shaping Pencil builds shape and volume, and this Brow Gel fixes and thickens. Combine a pencil in the same shade with this gel for the most complete and longest-lasting result.
