DermaQuest Retinol & Vitamin A

Retinol serums and vitamin A products for visible rejuvenation

DermaQuest Retinol & Vitamin A is the product line for those who want to visibly rejuvenate the skin with clinically proven formulas. Vitamin A is the most researched anti-aging ingredient worldwide and is considered the gold standard for reducing fine lines, pigmentation spots, and loss of firmness. What sets the DermaQuest RiQ line apart is the combination of four different retinoid forms, microencapsulation, and a build-up system with increasing concentrations.

Many skin types struggle with classic retinol serums due to irritation, flaking, or prolonged redness. The DermaQuest formulas are designed so that the skin gradually develops tolerance, with retinaldehyde for sensitive skin and retinol in increasing strengths for the advanced user. The result is structural skin rejuvenation without the typical downtime, at a pace the skin can handle.

Why choose retinol and vitamin A?

Vitamin A works at the cellular level to accelerate skin renewal. The skin produces new cells at a higher rate, which visibly improves wrinkles, pigmentation, and skin texture. Additionally, vitamin A stimulates collagen production, making the skin firmer and more elastic. For those who want visible results in the medium term, retinol or another form of vitamin A is almost indispensable in the evening routine. The DermaQuest RiQ line makes this ingredient class accessible for almost every skin type, thanks to microencapsulation and the stepwise concentration plan.

Find your ideal retinol or vitamin A product

For sensitive skin or retinol beginners: The RiQ Retinal 0.05% is the mildest option and contains retinaldehyde — a form that works faster and gentler than classic retinol. Ideal for those who have never used vitamin A before or have sensitive, reactive skin.

For the beginning retinol user: The RiQ Retinol 0.3% combines four retinoid forms in a well-tolerated concentration. Suitable for those who have used retinol once before or are ready for the next step after retinaldehyde.

For the advanced retinol user: The RiQ Retinol 0.6% is intended for those with months of experience with lower dosages and who seek visible results on deeper wrinkles and stubborn pigmentation spots.

For the most experienced user: The RiQ Retinol 1% is the top level of the line, with additional ingredients such as Madonna Lily stem cells and hexylresorcinol for maximum correction.

For the eye area: The RiQ Retinol Eye is tailored to the delicate skin around the eyes, with caffeine against dark circles and puffiness and ceramides for the skin barrier.

For weekly support: The Mini Pumpkin Mask is an enzymatic mask with pumpkin pulp that complements the retinol routine by refreshing the skin at the cellular level.

How to use retinol and vitamin A products?

1. Build up gradually by starting with the mildest concentration. Begin with the RiQ Retinal 0.05% as an introduction to vitamin A, especially if you have sensitive skin or have never used retinoids before
2. Only move on to a higher concentration if the skin tolerates the previous step for at least three months without irritation. The order is RiQ Retinol 0.3%, RiQ Retinol 0.6%, and finally RiQ Retinol 1%
3. Use retinol products only in the evening, as vitamin A makes the skin more sensitive to UV radiation. First, cleanse and tone the skin thoroughly
4. Apply a pea-sized amount to clean, dry skin and spread the serum evenly over the face, neck, and décolleté. Avoid the eye area
5. Optionally add the RiQ Retinol Eye for the skin around the eyes. Dab this serum gently around the eye socket without direct contact with the eye itself
6. Finish the evening routine with a DermaQuest moisturizer of your choice to support the skin barrier
7. Use the Mini Pumpkin Mask once or twice a week as a weekly exfoliating treatment — preferably on an evening without retinol use
8. Always use sun protection with SPF 30 or higher in the morning as the last step. Without daily SPF, retinol is counterproductive and accelerates sun damage

According to the DermaQuest protocol, retinol use is recommended in spring and autumn, with a three-month break in between and a maximum of three nights per week. These breaks prevent overstimulation and keep the skin healthy in the long term.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between retinol and retinaldehyde?

Retinol and retinaldehyde are both forms of vitamin A but differ in speed of action. Retinaldehyde is one conversion step closer to retinoic acid — the active form in the skin — and therefore works faster and milder. Retinol must be activated through two conversion steps. For sensitive skin, retinaldehyde is often a better introduction than a classic retinol serum.

At what age can I start using retinol?

DermaQuest recommends a minimum age of 16 years with supervision by a parent or skin professional. For anti-aging purposes, most women start around 25 to 30 years old with a mild retinoid, as this is the age when natural cell renewal and collagen production decline.

Can I use retinol year-round?

DermaQuest advises limiting retinol use to spring and autumn, with a three-month break in between and a maximum of three nights per week during a usage period. This rhythm prevents overstimulation of the skin and sensitivity in extreme weather conditions such as strong sun or severe cold.

Can I combine retinol with other active ingredients?

Do not combine retinol in the same routine with AHAs, BHAs, or high concentrations of vitamin C. Use vitamin C in the morning and retinol in the evening. Niacinamide and hyaluronic acid are well compatible with retinol and actually support the skin barrier during treatment.

How long before I see results from retinol?

Initial effects on skin texture and brightness are usually visible after four to six weeks. Deeper changes in wrinkles, pigmentation spots, and firmness become clear after eight to twelve weeks of consistent use. Vitamin A works cumulatively — visible results build up over months of consistent use.
