DermaQuest RiQ Retinol 1% 14,8ml
Description
Description
Highest retinol concentration for maximum skin renewal
With high-dose retinol, one principle is central: the more active ingredient reaches the skin, the greater the visible change. The challenge is not in the concentration itself, but in controlling the release process. A formula that releases a full percent of retinoids without overwhelming the skin barrier requires multiple generations of retinoid technology and targeted support from other ingredients.
The DermaQuest RiQ Retinol 1% represents the top level of the RiQ line. In addition to the well-known four retinoid forms, this formula adds Madonna Lily plant stem cells and hexylresorcinol — two ingredients that specifically work on brightness and pigmentation at the deepest level. The serum is intended for those who have used the 0.6% for months without problems and are ready for the next step.
Benefits
- Delivers maximum cell renewal for visible improvement of deeper wrinkles and sun damage
- Targets stubborn hyperpigmentation through a dual tyrosinase-inhibiting action
- Stimulates collagen production at the deepest level through peptides and stem cells
- Refines rougher skin texture, old scars, and visible irregularities
- Works actively at night with the skin’s natural regeneration rhythm
- Developed for the most experienced retinol users as the final step in the RiQ buildup
Active ingredients
Multi-retinoid complex 1.0% (Retinol, Retinal, Retinyl Retinoate & Retinyl Linoleate): Four forms of vitamin A in one serum, each with a different speed profile in converting to retinoic acid. Retinol accelerates mitosis and cell renewal, retinal works faster due to one less conversion step, retinyl retinoate is a newer generation ester with delayed release, and retinyl linoleate combines retinoid action with a soothing effect. The combined effect is more powerful than a single 1% retinol serum.
Madonna Lily Plant Stem Cells (Lilium Candidum): Stem cell extract from the white lily specifically added to this highest concentration. It brightens the skin, supports collagen production, and has a calming effect that compensates for the higher retinoid load. This ingredient distinguishes the 1% from the lower RiQ dosages.
Hexylresorcinol: An advanced tyrosinase inhibitor that blocks melanin production at the molecular level. Hexylresorcinol is used for the toughest pigmentation spots and sun damage, and works synergistically with tranexamic acid in this formula. For those dealing with deep discolorations alongside aging, this is a valuable addition.
Tranexamic Acid & Niacinamide: Tranexamic acid blocks the transfer of melanin from melanocytes to skin cells, while niacinamide strengthens the skin barrier and reduces existing discolorations. Together, these two create a more even complexion and support the skin during intensive retinoid action.
Plant Stem Cell Trio (Buddleja Davidii, Cyperus Papyrus & Chlorella Vulgaris): Three additional plant stem cell extracts that protect the skin from environmental stress and support regeneration. They work on different layers of the skin and strengthen the barrier during treatment.
Bakuchiol & Allosteris: Bakuchiol naturally enhances the effect of retinoids and soothes the skin, while Allosteris, as a patented enhancer, ensures the active ingredients are optimally utilized without extra burden on the skin.
Hyaluronic Acid Complex & Squalane: Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer attracts moisture and retains it longer than regular hyaluronic acid, while squalane seals the skin barrier and provides a smooth feel. Intensive hydration is essential for skin comfort with a high-dose retinoid.
How to use
- Use this serum only in the evening, as retinoids make the skin more sensitive to UV radiation
- Cleanse the face and optionally apply a toner
- Apply a thin layer or one to two pumps and spread the serum evenly over the face, neck, and décolleté
- Avoid the eye area and the immediate area around the mouth
- Finish with a DermaQuest moisturizer of your choice to support the skin barrier
- Always use a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher as the last step in the morning
Do not switch directly from a lower concentration to this serum. Build up through RiQ Retinol 0.3% and 0.6%, and only switch to this 1% when both are tolerated without irritation. Start with two evenings per week and increase based on skin reaction. According to DermaQuest, retinol use is recommended in spring and autumn, with a three-month break in between.
Suitable for
- Mature skin with deeper wrinkles and advanced sun damage
- Skin with stubborn melasma, hyperpigmentation, and post-inflammatory pigmentation spots
- Skin with rougher texture, old scars, and visible irregularities
- Advanced retinol users who have tolerated RiQ Retinol 0.6% well for months
- Not suitable for retinol beginners, sensitive skin, or as a replacement for a missed buildup period
- Not suitable during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or with active skin irritation
Frequently asked questions
Can I start directly with the 1% if I have been using retinol from another brand for years?
That depends on the concentration and composition of the other serum. A DermaQuest skin therapist can assess whether the skin is ready for this concentration. When in doubt, always start with a lower dosage from the RiQ line and build up. The combination of four retinoid forms in this formula is more intensive than a single 1% retinol serum.
What are typical skin reactions during the first weeks?
Mild dryness, a matte surface, or a feeling of tightness are normal in the first two to four weeks. Actual flaking, burning sensation, or persistent redness are signals to reduce frequency or step back to 0.6%. Hydration and SPF are extra important during the adjustment period.
How long does it take to see results?
Initial effects on skin texture and brightness are often visible after four to six weeks. Deeper changes in wrinkles, pigmentation spots, and firmness usually become clear after eight to twelve weeks of consistent use. Retinoids work cumulatively; visible results build up over months.
