HOW TO CLEAN AND MAINTAIN YOUR MAKEUP BRUSHES

We won't pretend it's the most fun task, but regularly cleaning your makeup brushes is essential for hygiene; it's good to make it a habit to clean them every few weeks, otherwise oils, bacteria, and dust can accumulate between the bristles and can be transferred to your skin when you apply your makeup. It takes some time, but it has huge benefits: your makeup applies faster and easier, it helps your makeup last longer, and even keeps your skin free from blemishes.

The quickest way to clean your brushes of bacteria and makeup is to use an alcohol-based formula. For a quick clean, spray the cleaner onto the bristles of the brush and wipe it on a dry cloth, repeating this process until the brush is clean. For a deeper clean, let your brushes sit in a cleaning solution for 15 minutes, being careful to only submerge the bristles, as all our brush handles are made of FSC-certified, sustainable wood, and submerging them will damage the structure.

Rinse the brushes in lukewarm water until the water runs clear, making sure to point the brush downwards so that the water flows through the bristles instead of into the handle. Remember not to use harsh cleaners or to submerge and soak the brushes in water, as this will damage the hairs and the structure of the brush. Always dry your brushes by laying them flat on a surface; this helps prevent the water from dissolving the glue at the base and prevents the hairs from loosening.
