Dermalogica Porescreen SPF40 30ml
Description
Description
Tinted mineral sunscreen SPF40 with niacinamide for visible pores
Visibly large pores are one of the most persistent skin concerns, especially on the nose, cheeks, and chin. Many people think pores can be permanently "shrunk," but the reality is more nuanced. The size of the pore itself is largely genetically determined, while visibility is indeed influenced by sebum, dead skin cells, skin laxity, and how light falls on the skin. A thoughtful approach therefore works on multiple fronts simultaneously: regulating sebum production, visually smoothing the skin, and protecting the skin from UV damage that makes pores even more visible.
Dermalogica Porescreen SPF40 combines these three elements in one product. The tinted mineral sunscreen provides broad-spectrum protection with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, while niacinamide works on the pores themselves and a primer-like texture visually refines the skin. The 30ml size is suitable for about three months of daily use.

- Reduces the visibility of pores thanks to niacinamide and silica

- Regulates sebum production and is suitable for combination and oily skin
Active ingredients
Zinc Oxide 10% & Titanium Dioxide: The combination of two mineral UV filters provides broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays. Zinc oxide forms the base and is known for its skin-friendly properties, especially for blemished skin as it is non-comedogenic and does not cause blockages. Titanium dioxide complements the protection in the UVB spectrum. Together, they offer SPF40 without the skin stress sometimes associated with chemical filters.
Niacinamide (vitamin B3): The key ingredient for pore reduction in this formula. Niacinamide regulates sebum production, preventing pores from becoming clogged and making them appear smaller. It also strengthens the skin barrier, reduces redness, and helps diminish pigmentation spots. With daily use over several weeks, the skin texture becomes structurally smoother.
Silica Silylate & hydrated silica: Two mineral powders that create the blurring effect that gives Porescreen its name. They visually fill in skin imperfections and diffuse light softly, making pores and fine lines less noticeable. The effect is similar to a soft-focus filter on the skin, without the product feeling heavy or powdery.
Iron Oxides: A universal light tint that suits most skin tones and subtly evens out the complexion. Iron oxides also provide additional protection against blue light from screens, an increasing factor in skin aging for people who spend a lot of time in front of computers.
Lactic Acid: A mild alpha hydroxy acid added in low concentration to gently support cell renewal. It helps loosen dead skin cells around pore openings, reducing the chance of clogged pores. The concentration is deliberately low so the product can be used daily under the sun.
Chlorella Vulgaris extract: A microalga rich in antioxidants and minerals. Chlorella supports the skin in repairing environmental damage and strengthens the natural defense against free radicals, which, in addition to UV, contribute to visibly large pores.
Bisabolol & Allantoin: Two soothing ingredients that calm the skin and counteract irritation. Bisabolol from chamomile is especially valuable for reactive or blemished skin because it has anti-inflammatory properties without stressing the skin.
Squalene & sunflower seed oil: Plant-based lipids that lightly nourish the skin without clogging pores. Squalene is naturally found in the skin and is well tolerated even by oily skin types. These ingredients provide a smooth, comfortable feel despite the mattifying effect.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the universal tint suit every skin tone?
The tinted formula is developed as a universal tint that adapts to a wide range of skin tones, from light to medium brown. For very light or very dark skin tones, a slight deviation may be visible, especially along the jawline. Therefore, always test first on the cheek before using the product on the entire face.
Can I wear this product under my foundation?
Yes, and that is one of the most popular ways to use Porescreen. The primer-like texture gives foundation more grip and ensures a smoother finish. Wait about a minute after applying before applying your foundation so the formula can set.
How much product do I need for sufficient SPF protection?
For full SPF40 level protection, you need about two finger lengths of the product for the entire face. Using less will proportionally reduce the level of protection. For those who want a subtler tint, a thinner layer can be used and the SPF protection supplemented with an additional product.
Is Porescreen suitable for skin prone to acne?
Yes. The formula is non-comedogenic and contains zinc oxide and niacinamide, two ingredients that are beneficial for skin with impurities. However, avoid using the product during an acute flare-up of active acne, and consult a skin therapist or dermatologist if in doubt.
Does the product also protect against blue light from screens?
Yes. The iron oxides in the formula provide additional protection against visible light and blue light, which is an increasing factor in skin aging for people who spend many hours in front of screens. This is an advantage that classic mineral sunscreens without tint often lack.
Can I use this during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Mineral UV filters such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding because they are not absorbed through the skin. The niacinamide and lactic acid present in low concentrations are also safe. When in doubt, we always recommend briefly consulting your midwife.
