Dermalogica PowerBright Dark Spot Peel 50ml
Description
Description
At-home peel against pigmentation spots with mandelic acid and tranexamic acid
Stubborn pigmentation spots, post-acne scars, and melasma lie deeper in the skin than a regular exfoliant can reach. They arise from disrupted melanin production and often remain visible for months to years, even with consistent skincare. A professional approach is needed to accelerate the renewal of the upper pigment-containing skin layers.
The PowerBright Dark Spot Peel is an at-home peel with a 12% AHA and PHA blend, inspired by professional treatments in the skin salon. Thanks to the combination of mandelic acid, tranexamic acid, and niacinamide, the skin visibly fades pigmentation spots in just 5 applications. An omega-3 complex from algae soothes the skin during this process, making the peel well-tolerated even for sensitive skin types.
Advantages
- Fades visible pigmentation spots in just 5 applications according to clinical research
- Targets UV pigmentation spots, post-acne marks, and melasma
- Evens skin tone with tranexamic acid and niacinamide
- Safe for a wide range of skin types and tones (Fitzpatrick I through IV)
- Leaves the skin smoother, softer, and visibly more radiant
Active ingredients
Mandelic acid (AHA): A mild fruit acid with a larger molecular structure than glycolic acid, which exfoliates the skin more slowly and evenly. Mandelic acid is particularly suitable for pigmentation issues because it inhibits melanin transfer without overstimulating the skin — an important feature for darker skin types prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Tranexamic acid: A targeted brightening active that interrupts communication between melanocytes and the upper skin cells. This slows the production of new pigment, especially effective for melasma and hormonal pigmentation spots that are difficult to treat with classic peels.
Niacinamide (vitamin B3): Strengthens the skin barrier and reduces the transfer of melanin pigment to the skin surface. It also soothes redness that can occur during a peeling treatment and supports a more even skin tone.
Gluconolactone and phytinic acid (PHA): Polyhydroxy acids with an even milder effect than AHAs. They exfoliate the skin superficially while simultaneously binding moisture, preventing the skin from drying out during the peeling process.
Omega-3 algae complex (Isochrysis & Nannochloropsis): This barrier-repairing complex from microalgae soothes the skin and reduces inflammation triggers that can lead to post-inflammatory pigmentation. Essential in a peel formula also intended for more sensitive skin.
Turmeric butter extract (Curcuma Longa): An antioxidant-rich plant extract that nourishes the skin and protects against free radicals during exfoliation. It leaves the skin feeling smooth and soft after rinsing.

Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly will I see results from the PowerBright Dark Spot Peel?
According to clinical research by Dermalogica, visible fading of pigmentation spots can be seen after just 5 applications. For lasting results, it is important to regularly include the peel in your routine and use SPF50 daily.
Can I combine this peel with retinol or vitamin C?
It is not recommended to stack multiple strong actives in the same routine. Preferably use retinol in the evening routine on a day when you do not apply a peel, and save vitamin C for the morning routine. This way, the skin stays balanced without overstimulation.
Can I use the peel after microneedling or another skin treatment?
After a microneedling treatment, wait at least 7 to 14 days before using this peel, or longer if the skin still feels red or sensitive. Then build up gradually and always listen to the skin's reaction.
