Description
Brightening serum against pigment spots without hydroquinone
Stubborn pigment spots, melasma, and sun damage originate deep in the skin and require a targeted approach. For those who want to brighten the skin without hydroquinone or cysteamine, a multilayered plant-based brightening complex offers the most refined solution — powerful enough to deliver results, gentle enough for daily use.
The DermaQuest Advanced MelaQuest Serum combines tranexamic acid, arbutin, and shiitake extract in a light, fast-absorbing formula. These ingredients inhibit melanin production through multiple pathways simultaneously, fading existing pigment spots and preventing new discolorations. The skin becomes visibly more even, brighter, and refined in texture.
Benefits
- Reduces pigment spots, melasma, and sun damage without hydroquinone
- Works through multiple tyrosinase inhibitors for a deep evening effect
- Enhances the skin’s radiance and reduces dull complexion
- Lightly hydrates and soothes the skin during pigment treatment
- Suitable for those who cannot or do not want to use cysteamine
Active ingredients
Tranexamic Acid: A clinically studied ingredient that disrupts communication between melanocytes and skin cells. It is especially valuable for melasma and post-inflammatory pigmentation because it inhibits pigment formation on multiple levels simultaneously.
Arbutin & Alpha-Arbutin: Plant-derived hydroquinone derivatives extracted from bearberry. These ingredients inhibit tyrosinase activity, the central step in melanin production, with significantly less chance of irritation than synthetic hydroquinone.
Shiitake Mushroom Extract (Lentinus Edodes): A natural tyrosinase inhibitor that slows the formation of new pigment spots. Works synergistically with arbutin and hexylresorcinol for multilayered pigment control.
Hexylresorcinol: An advanced brightener that addresses uneven pigmentation without stressing the skin barrier. Helps fade both superficial and deeper discolorations.
Vitamin C (Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate & Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate): Two stable forms of vitamin C that protect the skin from free radicals and inhibit melanin production. They also stimulate collagen production for firmer skin texture.
Bakuchiol: A plant-based alternative to retinol from the Babchi plant. Stimulates cell renewal and helps soften fine lines, with significantly less risk of irritation or photosensitivity than classic vitamin A.
Kojic Acid: A fermented ingredient derived from rice that inhibits melanin production. Especially effective on stubborn dark spots and old scars.
Bearberry & Mulberry extract (Arctostaphylos Uva-Ursi & Morus Alba): Plant antioxidants that protect the skin against oxidative stress and contribute to more even pigmentation.
Peptides (Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-36 & Nonapeptide-1): Signal peptides that support skin structure and improve elasticity. They enhance the rejuvenating effect of pigmentation correction.
Rhododendron stem cells (Rhododendron Ferrugineum): Plant stem cells that strengthen the skin’s natural defense mechanisms and help against environmental damage that causes new pigmentation.
Licorice root extract (Glycyrrhiza Glabra): Contains glabridine, an ingredient that soothes tyrosinase activity and reduces inflammation that can enhance pigmentation.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between this serum and the cysteamine version?
The Advanced MelaQuest Serum works without cysteamine and focuses on a multi-layered plant-based brightening complex with tranexamic acid, arbutin, and shiitake extract. The cysteamine version is more intensive and mainly intended for very stubborn melasma. This serum is suitable for those who prefer a milder, daily approach or cannot tolerate cysteamine.
How long does it take to see results?
Initial improvements in radiance and skin texture are often noticeable after two to four weeks. For visible reduction of pigmentation spots, consistent use for eight to twelve weeks is usually required, combined with daily sun protection.
Can I combine this serum with retinol or vitamin A?
The formula already contains bakuchiol as a plant-based retinol alternative. Combining with an additional retinol product is possible, but introduce it gradually. Preferably use retinol in the evening routine and this serum only in the morning to prevent irritation.
Is this serum suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women?
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, many active ingredients are not recommended, including certain brighteners. Always consult your doctor or midwife before using this serum during this period.
